What does keying purchase orders cost you?
Enter a few numbers about how your team handles purchase orders today. You’ll see the hours and dollars a year that automating them could save, worked out in the open.
How we work it out
No hidden multipliers. These are the sums behind every number above.
- Automated orders = orders a month × 12 × the share Order Entry posts without keying.
- Keying hours saved = automated orders × (minutes to key an order − 1 minute for a person to check it) ÷ 60.
- Mistakes avoided = automated orders × the share keyed with a mistake today.
- Fixing hours saved = mistakes avoided × minutes to fix each one ÷ 60.
- Saving a year = (keying hours saved + fixing hours saved) × staff cost per hour. Working days assume a 7.6-hour day.
About this calculator
Where do the example figures come from?
They’re a starting point for a mid-sized distributor, not a benchmark. Replace each one with your own numbers to get an estimate for your business.
Why can’t Order Entry post every order without a person?
Some lines are unclear, such as a part number that matches two products. Order Entry holds anything below the confidence level you set for a person to check, so the share it posts on its own depends on your customers’ orders.
What does the estimate leave out?
It only counts staff time. It doesn’t count faster order confirmations, fewer calls asking whether an order arrived, or staff time moved to selling, which are often worth more.
How do we find our real figures?
Book a demo and bring a few recent purchase orders. We’ll run them through Order Entry and show you how many lines go straight through.
See TierCommerce running on your own products.
Bring a price list and a recent purchase order. We’ll show you both working in 30 minutes.
