Users and roles

Let your customers manage their own people

Each trade account can have many users. A head user at the customer adds buyers and accounts-payable users and decides what each one can do, so your team isn’t managing every login.

Roles that match how your customers buy

  • Head users

Manage their company’s users and permissions, and see everything ordered on the account.

  • Buyers

Search, build carts and place orders, within the limits the head user sets.

  • Accounts-payable users

See invoices and statements and pay them online, without access to ordering if they don’t need it.

How it fits together

Your ERP knows the customer. TierCommerce knows the people who buy for them, and what each one is allowed to do.

Who sets it up

You set the account, they run it

  • Your ERP The customer account, branches and addresses
  • Your team Invites the first head user, sets limits on what’s allowed
  • The customer’s head user Adds their own people and permissions
TierCommerce

Users and permissions

  • Many users on one customer account
  • Roles with fine-grained permissions
  • One login across several accounts
  • Branches that bill to head office

What it controls

For people and AI co-workers alike

  • What each user can do Browse, order, quote, pay or manage
  • Where orders are billed The branch or head office account
  • Who approves what The basis for approval rules

How it works

How a customer with a head office and three branches runs their own account.

  1. 1

    You invite one head user

Your team links the customer to their account in your ERP and invites one head user. From then on, the customer manages their own people, so your team isn’t resetting passwords or adding new staff.

    • Customer accounts and branches from your ERP
    • You decide which roles the customer can hand out
    • Your team can still see and change anything
  2. 2

    They add their team

The head user adds buyers, accounts-payable staff and anyone who only needs to look. Each person gets the permissions their job needs, and nothing more.

    • Buyers who can order but not pay invoices
    • Accounts-payable users who can pay but not order
    • Leavers removed by the head user, not your team
  3. 3

    Permissions follow them everywhere

Every screen checks the user’s permissions: what they can see, order, quote or pay. The same rules apply to AI co-workers acting for that user.

    • One user across several customer accounts, if you allow it
    • Branch orders billed to head office where set up
    • A record of who did what

Account structures for real businesses

  • Many users on each customer account
  • One user across several customer accounts, if you allow it
  • Fine-grained permissions set by the head user
  • Branches that bill to head office
  • Approval rules by role, spend or branch
  • AI co-workers follow the same permissions

Add approvals on top

Orders and quotes can wait for the right person at the customer, by spend limit, role or branch.
