Calculator
What does each price break really earn you?
Enter a product’s cost, its list price and your quantity breaks. You’ll see the price and margin at each tier, which ones fall below your target, and the deepest discount you can afford.
How we work it out
No hidden multipliers. These are the sums behind every number above.
- Price at a break = list price × (1 − discount).
- Margin per unit = price − unit cost.
- Margin = margin per unit ÷ price, as a percentage.
- Deepest discount = 1 − (unit cost ÷ (1 − target margin)) ÷ list price.
About this calculator
Is this gross margin or markup?
Gross margin: the profit as a share of the selling price. A product that costs $28 and sells for $40 has a 30% margin, which is a 43% markup on cost.
How do I pick the right quantity breaks?
Start with the deepest discount that keeps your target margin, then set breaks below it at quantities that cut your handling cost, such as full cartons or pallets.
Does TierCommerce handle quantity breaks?
Yes. Quantity breaks, customer-group price lists and contract prices come from your ERP, and each customer sees the break that applies to them.
Are my numbers saved?
No. The calculator runs in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to us.
