Payments and terms

Let every customer pay the way you’ve agreed

Some customers pay by card, most are on account. TierCommerce lets you set the payment options for each customer, using the terms in your ERP.

Payment options, customer by customer

  • Card

For cash customers and one-off orders, tokenised by a PCI-compliant payment provider.

  • On account

Orders charged to the customer’s account against the credit terms in your ERP.

  • Invoice and bank transfer

For customers who pay on invoice, the way they do today.

How it fits together

Credit terms and limits stay in your ERP. TierCommerce reads them to decide how each customer can pay, and card payments go through a PCI-compliant provider, never through us.

What decides the options

From your ERP and your settings

  • Credit terms Such as 30 days end of month
  • Credit limit and balance How much is owing right now
  • Your rules per customer Which payment options they get
TierCommerce

Checkout for this customer

  • Shows only the options they’re allowed
  • Checks the order against their credit limit
  • Hands card details to the payment provider
  • Records how each order was paid

Where it ends up

Matched in your ERP

  • Sales order on account Charged to their account on their terms
  • Card payment Settled through your payment provider
  • Invoice to pay later By bank transfer, as they do today

How it works

Two customers at the same checkout, each offered the way you’ve agreed they pay.

  1. 1

Set the options for each customer

Choose which payment options each customer or customer group gets. Terms and credit limits come from your ERP, so there’s one place to change them.

    • Defaults for each customer group
    • Exceptions for single customers
    • Card-only for new or cash customers
  2. 2

Checkout shows only what they can use

At checkout, buyers see the options set for their account. An on-account customer sees their available credit, so they know before they place the order whether it will go through.

    • Available credit shown at checkout
    • Orders over the limit can be held or paid by card
    • Their purchase order number on every order
  3. 3

    Payment lands where it belongs

On-account orders go into your ERP against the customer’s account. Card payments are tokenised by the payment provider, and the payment is recorded against the order, so finance can match it without hunting.

    • Card numbers never stored by TierCommerce
    • Online invoice payments synced back to your ERP

Terms that stay in your ERP

  • Payment options set per customer
  • Credit terms and limits from your ERP
  • Card numbers never stored by TierCommerce
  • Online invoice payments synced back to your ERP

Payments and terms questions

Can different customers have different payment options?

Yes. You choose which options each customer can use, such as card for cash customers and on account for trade customers.

Where do credit terms come from?

From your ERP. TierCommerce uses the terms and limits you already have set up.

Do you store card details?

No. Card payments are tokenised by a PCI-compliant payment provider, so card numbers never sit in TierCommerce.

Can customers pay invoices online?

Yes, with accounts payable online. Customers see their invoices and statements and pay them online.
