Search and discovery

Search that finds part numbers, typos and all

Trade buyers search the way they talk: half a part number, an old code or a misspelt description. TierCommerce search copes with all of it, and shows each buyer their own price.

Built for the way trade buyers search

  • Partial SKUs and old codes

Finds products from part of a SKU, so buyers don’t need the exact code.

  • Misspellings and descriptions

Finds products from description words, even when they’re misspelt.

  • Their price in the results

Every result shows that buyer’s own price, so they don’t have to open each product.

How it fits together

Search is built from your ERP’s product data plus the words your customers actually use, then filtered to each buyer’s range and priced for them.

What search knows

From your ERP and your team

  • Product data SKUs, descriptions, brands and attributes
  • Old and supplier codes Superseded part numbers and alternates
  • Synonyms The words your customers use, like “bog roll”
TierCommerce

Search for this buyer

  • Matches partial codes and typos
  • Ranks what this customer buys first
  • Leaves out products they can’t see
  • Prices every result for them

What the buyer gets

As they type

  • Instant results Products, categories and past orders
  • Their price and stock Without opening each product
  • Add to cart Straight from the results

How it works

Three searches your customers do every day, and what they get back.

  1. 1

Half a part number is enough

Buyers rarely have the full code in front of them. Type part of a SKU, with or without the brand prefix, and the right product comes up first, priced for that buyer.

    • Matches anywhere in the code, with or without dashes
    • Old and superseded codes point to the current product
    • Results update as they type
  2. 2

Typos and trade words still work

Misspelt descriptions still find the right products, and synonyms map your customers’ words to your catalogue’s. Add a synonym once and every search uses it.

    • Synonyms you manage, like “bog roll” for toilet tissue
    • Description words matched even when misspelt
    • The same synonyms work for every customer
  3. 3

Only what they’re allowed to buy

Results are filtered to the customer’s range before they’re shown. A dental group never sees your catering lines, and a contract customer sees their approved products first.

    • Products and categories hidden per customer or group
    • Recommendations from what each customer buys
    • Add to cart from the results

Discovery that gets smarter

  • Search synonyms for the words your customers use
  • Recommendations from what each customer buys
  • Only products the customer is allowed to see
  • Add to cart from the results

About Buyer Assistant

Search and discovery questions

Will search find our customers’ own part numbers?

It finds partial SKUs, old codes and description words. You can also add search synonyms, so buyers find products by the words they use.

Does it handle misspellings?

Yes. Search copes with misspelt description words, so a typo doesn’t end in “no results”.

Do buyers see their own prices in search results?

Yes. Results show each buyer’s own price, from your ERP.

Can search show products a customer shouldn’t see?

No. Search only returns products that customer’s account is allowed to see.
